Last year was too wet, and too many things to be done after moving in, to get this started.

1st year's garden. 14 x 24 feet.

What we have going:

Potatoes
Tomatoes (Roma, Jetstar, Cherry Reds)
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Brussel Sprouts
Celery
Jalapeno Peppers
Yellow Banana Peppers
Green Beans
Yellow Beans
Radishes
Multiplier Onions
Sweet Onions
Kale
Turnips
Carrots
Baby Spinach
Lettuce

And a row of Gladioli bulbs across the bottom.

This fall I'll be adding a yard in each direction, to the dimensions of the garden.

You're going to have fun canning all that produce throughout the summer and fall!

The only suggestion I would make is adding San Marzano tomatoes as well. They are the meatiest, most flavorful tomato variety out there.

I will have to see if I can find those...

Jenn used to can, but she got tired of it... unless we take it back up, all shall be eaten fresh.

What, No Cabbages?!?.. The Huns would Not be Pleased...
But just Wait, the Rabbits are Gathering!
That Far North, and you could get some use out of even a simple Arch and Plastic 'greenhouse' to get 'em up and running sooner.
Down here, the hay has been Cut once, and the Corn is Wast-High and running an Inch or two a Day!

The corn is that good already? It is barely three inches tall here!

We are considering a cold-frame, among other things.

Yeah, it has been the start of a Very Good growing season, with the warmer Winter, a lot of people around here Planted their open-field stuff in late March, and we've had good alternating weeks of Rain and Sun since then. As long as we don't go into a Drought in mid- July/early August, the Corn and
Vegetable guys will do well.
One place near here put in 50 Acres of Strawberries under strips of plastic that they plowed dirt along the edges, and they were selling Strawberries by May 10th! (These were Planted in late FEBRUARY!) And No, I doubt that he'll be paying the algore a commission for the 'global warming'

Now, I would run a Garden if I
had a Place for one, because I would maybe, just, have enough Time for it, and then put to use the cases of Canning Jars I took from my Grandfather's House...

But instead, I spray Weed Poison
in the Gravel under the Trucks and
House Van, so I don't have to Mow them.

As for Cold Frames, do you get
Ice Storms late in Winter? That would Mess you Up pretty quick if
that happened. I've seen several
places around here, that had very Large plastic-covered 'Greenhouses'
get Wiped out of Business by Hail
or Windstorms (not even Tornadoes)
and all of the Places that have the
Steel-Framed ones use heavy Acrylic
Panels instead of Glass, to protect against the Hail.
Good Luck with the Garden!
(and remember, those cute Bunnies
are the ENEMY!)

This region is covered with greenhouses, hundreds of them. We've seen several that were collapsed by the heavy snows we got the past few winters. Haven't seen but one ice storm, I think, since I've been up here.

Thanks! We got some good rain the past three days, so things are looking up!

We haven't had a Bad Ice Storm for a
few Years, they seem to be more South
of us, Carolina/Georgia area, but then
we haven't had very Wet Winters for
about 3 Years now.
Well, it's almost 4PM, and getting Dark and Quiet... time to close things up before the next Thunderstorm hits.

Awesome start...we live in Wyoming so I am just now getting seeds in the outside garden. Peas are up though and the greenhouse is going strong!

We have had 10 inches of snow before on May 24 and have had snow as early as Sept. 20th. Our freeze ends about June 1 and it can start as early as the last week in August. So we consider ourselves lucky if we get three to four months.
