Sunlit Snow Key to Arctic Ozone DepletionI have long recalled that the Ozone Hole was first discovered in the 1950s. That always seemed to me to be a bit Too early, for it to have been an effect of chemical reactions in the atmosphere, with human-produced CFCs.
More recently, I had read that the effect of ocean waves produces halogens, which interact with and destroy ozone. I'd say the oceans likely have an effect a couple of magnitudes greater than humans, don't you think?
And now we find- direct from the National Science Foundation, Purdue and NASA- that Snow actually plays a role in the equation.
I've been wondering for a long time if the Ozone Hole, were not just another feedback mechanism in the atmosphere- and a Negative one, at that.
Sunlit Snow Triggers Atmospheric Cleaning, Ozone Depletion in the Arctic
Finding is related to snow atop sea ice, adding a new dimension to scientific concerns about loss of Arctic ice.

National Science Foundation-funded researchers at Purdue University have discovere
MET Admits NO 'warm' Arctic Connection to Winters A few weeks ago, the UK MET put out the news that the current cold winter(s) were being caused by the lack of sea ice in the Arctic.
Just a few days ago, the MET- Very, Very Quietly- put out a new report, which states that the lack of ice in the Arctic* has NOTHING to do with the recent trend in cold winters. Funny thing: they didn't make ANY announcement to the press.... almost as if they wanted people to Keep believing that it is OUR fault that we're having cold winters.
Which weren't supposed to be happening in the first place, according to the MET and the IPCC. Google 'david viner children won't know what snow is.'
I'll be presenting a portion of commentary from Not A Lot Of People Know That, along with a portion of the MET summary. Links to both the climate skeptic site, and the MET report, below.
*When I say 'lack of ice in the Arctic,' I am referring to summer sea ice. Claims that the Arctic has gone 'ice free' are Bogus.

New Paper: Sea level, Less Than a Foot to ComeI've been accused of putting up 'out-dated' science. This must be one of those, then...
From Tallbloke's Talkshop. Links below.
Nicola Scafetta: Major new sea level study – finds C21st rise likely to be less than a foot.
Congratulations to Nicola Scafetta, who has successfully published a new paper on sea level rise Multi-scale dynamical analysis (MSDA) of sea level recordsversus PDO, AMO, and NAO indexes in the journal Climate Dynamics. This is a major paper, which undertakes a comprehensive review of recent studies, which diverge widely in their findings. He finds that the main reason for divergence is the length of records used in studies, and shows that the quasi-cyclic oscillations of the major ocean basins largely account for the differences in those studies conclusions. Developing a powerful analysis technique with strong visualisation, it is shown that the periodicity of the major oscillations, being 60 to 70 years, require a minimum record length of around 110

There are competing points of view regarding the causes of climate change in our current environment. One group has concluded that human activities in the burning of fossil fuels have increased the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere which has caused a recent acceleration of a 300 year trend of global warming. This point of view is usually called "Anthropogenic (man-made) Global Warming" (AGW.) The most prevalent alternative point of view is that natural variations account for most, if not all, of changes in climate. The professional conflict between the advocates of these two hypotheses generally comes down to a debate between AGW advocates attempting to predict future climate change through unproven computer models, and the AGW skeptics point of view bas

Part 2 Thomas Stocker Interview…Lüning: “IPCC Increasingly Unable To Maneuver, Detached From Reality”
By P Gosselin on 18. April 2013
What follows is the 2nd part of the Weltwoche interview. Yesterday in Part 1 we read:
1. Stocker said the theory claiming global warming causes cold European winters is not robust.
2. Stocker was caught fibbing in claiming that the projections of IPCC models were “extremely good”.
3. Stocker had ignored inconvenient science from his own institute.
4. Stocker appeared unaware that global warming had not risen in 15 years.
Part 2 of the Stocker/Weltwoche interview
In part 2, Stocker contradicts Ben Santer and claims that 17 years are not enough to establish a climate trend, insists that warming is taking place and that the model projections h
IPCC Co-Chair Thomas Stocker Flunks Interview Pt 1Reposted from the No Tricks Zone, by P. Gosselin, German climate scientist.
Last week hard-hitting Swiss weekly Weltwoche published a revealing interview with IPCC WG-1 Co-Chair Thomas Stocker. The interview was conducted by Markus Schär.
Dr. Sebastian Lüning was given permission to republish the interview at the Die kalte Sonne site (Link Below), adding his rebuttals and corrections. Lüning writes: “Thomas Stocker showed a number of memory lapses in the Weltwoche-Interview.”
What follows is the interview along with Lüning’s rebuttals in English. Because of the interview’s length, it will appear in 3 or 4 parts over the next few days. Some parts have been slightly shortened and edited.
The Stocker interview not only exposes misleading science, but also provides good hints as to how the IPCC intends to approach its 5th report.
WELTWOCHE: How do you explain the cold winters of the last years?
STOCKER: There’s been no long
Remote Reefs Recover from 1998 Super El-ninoWA's Scott Reef has recovered from mass bleaching in 1998
Embargo: Friday 5th April, 5 am AEDT (Thursday 4th April, 2 pm US Eastern Time)
Isolated coral reefs can recover from catastrophic damage as effectively as those with nearby undisturbed neighbours, a long-term study by marine biologists from the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies (CoECRS) has shown.
Scott Reef, a remote coral system in the Indian Ocean, has largely recovered from a catastrophic mass bleaching event in 1998, according to the study published in Science today.
The study challenges conventional wisdom that suggested isolated reefs were more vulnerable to disturbance, because they were thought to depend on recolonisation from other reefs. Instead, the scientists found that the isolation of reefs allowed surviving corals to rapidly grow and propagate in the absence of human interference.
Australia's largest oceanic reef system, Scott Reef, is relativel
They just. CAN'T. Get it right! This one's from P. Gosselin's site. P. Gosselin is a German scientist and climate skeptic- you know, one of those people whom, according to some here, do not exist, because skepticism of the Unproven theory of 'man-made' global warming, is just a 'dying reactionary movement.' (links to his site and another German Skeptic site, below).
Oh, and pretty sure he is NOT conservative.
But I digress......
“Snow is starting to disappear from our lives,” said the article.
“Sledges, snowmen, snowballs and the excitement of waking to find that the stuff has settled outside are all a rapidly diminishing part of Britain’s culture, as warmer winters – which scientists are attributing to global climate change – produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries.
“According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snow
