'Cause I sure do!

Just thought I'd post a little bit of info about here, for those who have been taught to believe that it was 'one article in Newsweek' and that 'no scientists ever made such a claim.'

The simple FACT that even the CIA had written report concerned with global cooling, ought to be enough to clue some in.... but you know how clueless they've been taught to be the past 30 years. For some of them, if it didn't happen in their lifetime, it never happened. Or never happened before. For climate alarmists, Everything that happens nowadays is the First time it ever happened- and it is YOUR fault.

Bottom line- climate science was politicized as far back as the 1970s- just look at the 'solutions' for global cooling. You will see the EXACT same things as are being called for today. And they were being called for by the EXACT same mindset as today- leftist, Malthusian and increasingly anti-poor, anti-elderly, anti-African, anti-Human.***

Does the bullet point list for solutions to global cooling at right look familiar? It reads almost like some of the manifestos we get from warmists today, including the suspension of Democracy as the article in the Owosso Newspaper clearly demonstrates. Thanks to Poptech for the compilation.

During the 1970s the media promoted global cooling alarmism with dire threats of a new ice age. Extreme weather events were hyped as signs of the coming apocalypse and man-made pollution was blamed as the cause.

Environmental extremists called for everything from outlawing the internal combustion engine to communist style population controls. This media hype was found in newspapers, magazines, books and on television.

Last week the Met Office news blog featured a new study investigating possible changes in tropical rainfall.

I took the opportunity to point out that global cooling in the 1960’s and 70’s brought widespread drought.

Evidently Hubert Lamb must have been one of these crackpots!

 

In 1973 he wrote this article for the UNESCO Courier magazine.

Note the comment about droughts. Because of the atmospheric changes he describes, rainfall belts were squeezed towards the equator, leaving expanded areas of drought:

And they call us deniers! It never ceases to astound me just how little supporters of the AGW creed actually understand about our climate and its history. Instead all they can come up with is mindless assertions and ad homs.

Such behaviour indicates a blind religious devotion, that they will follow through thick and thin regardless of the facts.

Dr. Hubert Lamb was the gentleman who create the MET CRU, which unfortunately today is staffed by some of the most politicized CAGW scientists in the world.

Dr. Lamb was a climate genius. Too bad they didn't follow in his footsteps. He saw it coming but he could not stop it.

Next time someone makes the FALSE claim that there was nothing to the global cooling scare, feel free to link them to this info.
